Eleven Steps to Stopping SPAM

Did you know that Swift Wireless offers advanced SPAM detection on all swiftwireless.com and swiftaz.net e-mail accounts at no extra charge? Here are step-by-step instructions to enable it.

Swift Wireless offers advanced SPAM detection on all swiftwireless.com and swiftaz.net e-mail accounts at no extra charge. Note: Not available on swiftwireless.net e-mail accounts.

By default, spam detection is not enabled, but you can easily do so by following these steps:

1. Start your web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer or Netscape) and open the following page:

http://www.swiftwireless.com:8000

(Note that you must enter the "http://" exactly as above).

2. Enter your user name and password. You user name is the first part of your e-mail address, i.e. if your e-mail address is "bob@swiftwireless.com" then you user name is "bob".

3. Click on the "Options" button. From here you can change a number of parameters related to your account.

4. Click on "Filters and SPAM".

5. Check the box labeled "Enable SPAM Detection"

6. You can choose to delete SPAM or save it to another directory. As no SPAM filter is 100% perfect, we recommend that you temporarily save spam to your "Deleted" directory. You can then review it periodically for important messages prior to deleting it permanently. To do this, select the button labeled "Place in Directory" and then select "Deleted" from the drop down menu.

7. Scroll down and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

8. Any mail which our mail server feels is SPAM will now be placed in your "Deleted" directory.

Important: You must periodically remove SPAM from your "Deleted" directory or the directory will continue to fill up to the point where you will eventually exceed your maximum allowed storage space (presently 40 MB). At that point you will no longer be able to receive any e-mail! To keep this from happening we give you the ability to "auto-delete" your "Deleted" directory after a certain number of days. To set this feature, click on the "Options" button and then select "Advanced Options". Check the box to "Auto Delete Mails after (Days)" and type a number to indicate how many days you would like the mails to be saved before they are automatically deleted. Set this number high enough to allow you time to periodically review your SPAM for messages that you do not consider to be SPAM.

9. Click the "Save" button when you are finished.

10. You can view your "Deleted" directory at any time by clicking on the "Inbox" button and then clicking on "Deleted" in the folders box at the left side of the screen.

11. To remove any wanted messages from the "Deleted" directory and return them to your Inbox, select the message you wish to save by clicking the check box to the left of the message, then click on the "Move" button at the top right side of the screen. This will move all selected messages to the directory you select from the drop-down menu. If you move them to the "Inbox", the messages will be downloaded to your computer the next time you check your mail (unless you are using Web Mail when you check your mail).
